Dear Mike Birbiglia,
Back in the early 2000s, when I listened to the radio, it was usually tuned to classic rock. That meant my morning drives were often accompanied by The Bob & Tom Show. By far, my favorite segments were the ones where you would come on, tell stories, and add an entry to My Secret Public Journal. That idea stuck with me, and for years, I made "Dear journal" posts on my social media—small reflections on life, inspired by the way you shared yours.
As I've started moving away from social media, I found myself needing another outlet for writing, reflecting, and sharing. Thus, my blog was born. It’s a space for me to continue what you first sparked in me all those years ago.
In 2024, I finally got to see you perform live in Tulsa on your Please Stop the Ride tour. You were every bit the storyteller I remembered from my youth, and it was a joy to experience your craft in person.
So, if you ever accidentally stumble upon this, Mike, I just want to say thank you. Thank you for sharing your stories. Thank you for inspiring me.
Always,
Dave
