The Lull of Life

The Lull of Life
By Dave

In the quiet hum of the late afternoon,
Where sunlight dances on the dust,
Life, once a grand and boisterous tune,
Softens to whispers that we trust.

Gone are the days of vast ambitions,
Now we cherish the subtle hues,
The small comforts in our positions,
Coffee's warmth, and the daily news.

Our world shrinks to rooms and routine,
Where memories hang on every wall,
Time's passage, once harsh, now pardons,
And in little things, we find our all.

The humming of the TV fills the quiet space,
The couch that knows our shape too well,
In every tick of the clock, chimes
The stories only we can tell.

Our thoughts, like our steps, grow measured,
No longer racing, but sure and slow,
In trifles, our hearts are treasured,
Where once we sought far to go.

So with each setting sun, we glean
That life's not meant to be vast, but deep,
Not in the many, but the seen,
In the small, our promises we keep.
