Columbus Park of Roses

Today, I visited the Columbus Park of Roses, an iconic rose garden located in Columbus, Ohio. Established in 1953 and nestled within the larger Whetstone Park, this garden spans over 13 acres and houses more than 12,000 rose specimens representing 400 varieties. As a rose garden enthusiast, I found the visit both inspiring and overwhelming.

Walking through the garden, I was captivated by the sheer diversity of roses, from hybrid teas and floribundas to grandifloras, climbers, miniatures, and shrub roses. The colors and varieties were unlike anything I had seen before, drawing me in with their vibrant hues and intricate patterns. Each themed section of the park, such as the Heritage Garden with its old garden roses and the Earth-Kind Rose Garden promoting sustainable rose-growing practices, offered new discoveries and inspirations.

The park's layout, combining rose gardens with perennial and herb gardens, created a rich tapestry of colors and scents. It was a sensory delight, overwhelming in the best possible way. The Columbus Park of Roses is more than just a visual marvel; it serves as a hub for educational programs, workshops, and events centered around horticulture and gardening, making it a perfect destination for anyone passionate about roses and gardening.

This visit not only deepened my appreciation for the art of rose gardening but also inspired new ideas for my own garden. The beauty and variety I encountered today will undoubtedly influence my future gardening endeavors.
