This morning, I was sitting at my desk at work when a couple of my coworkers came in and put a box on my desk. It was a Boston Scally box, one of my favorite hat brands. After a few words were where exchanged, they let me know that they wanted to get me something to let me know they were thinking of me. These past two months have been hard and work has been hard as a result of that, but having good people around me has been more than just a life saver. It has provided the grace I needed to be both fully present with Grandma in her final days and fully present at work making sure my students recieved the care and attention they also needed.
Opening the box, I found a blue and brown pattered hat called the Frostland. Along side the hat was a hat pin of a purple rose. I loved it immediately. We shared hugs around and it was a nice to have a tender moment of care and recognition. It's one I won't forget and one I will reflect on happily each time a wear this new addition to my hat collection.
